Renee Bruns is an explorer, travel expert, and storyteller. After 20 years in corporate America, she uprooted her traditional life and set out to see the world. Using a wheelchair full-time, she has visited over 140 countries, all 50 states, and all seven continents. Her travels have earned her several awards, including a Guinness World Record. She accredits her success of seeing the world with a disability to the kindness of complete strangers. Now, she is an international keynote speaker, consultant, non-profit ambassador, advocate, and adventurer.
What do we do when we finally get everything we want only to feel regret and disappointment? In her TEDx talk, Renee shares highs and lows of her journey around the world using a wheelchair. When she became a victim of cyberbullying after she received her Guinness World Record, she learned that what she really wanted wasn’t a world record. Renee shares stories of her trip around the world and what it taught her about taking in every moment of our lives – good and bad – and embracing the journey we are on.
“And just knowing that you can go out to the other side of the world with a limitation or a challenge and do it by yourself is the biggest confidence booster I think anyone can get.”
